Maintenance Methods for Anti-corrosion Roots Blower Bearings When the blower and vacuum pump are driven by an intermediate shaft pulley, the bearing housings at both ends of the intermediate shaft should be lubricated with No. 2 general-purpose lithium-based grease to a level of 1/2 to 1/3 of the free space within the bearing housing.

Anti-corrosion Roots blower Bearing Maintenance Methods

During the operation of a corrosion-resistant Roots blower, every component is actually subject to wear and tear. To minimize this wear and extend the service life of key components, we need to perform regular maintenance on these critical parts. Today, I’ll show you how to maintain the bearings of the corrosion-resistant Roots blower’s motor:

  (1) When the anti-corrosion Roots blower is running, the oil level must be maintained between the two red lines on the oil-level gauge.

  (2) Insufficient oil levels can lead to inadequate lubrication of gears and bearings; excessive oil levels can cause the oil temperature to rise, damaging gears and other components.

  (3) The lubricating oil must be of reliable quality and guaranteed. When adding lubricating oil, it should be added online to the oil level gauge. After the blower and vacuum pump are started, the oil level will slightly decrease.

  (4) When the blower and vacuum pump are driven by the intermediate shaft pulley, the bearing housings at both ends of the intermediate shaft should be lubricated with No. 2 general-purpose lithium-based grease to a level filling one-half to one-third of the free space within the bearing housings.

  (5) Anti-corrosion Roots blower It mainly consists of a casing, wall plates, and two rotors each equipped with impellers. Driven by a pair of synchronous gears, the two rotors rotate in opposite directions at the same speed. The intake chamber and the exhaust chamber are essentially isolated from each other by the clearances between the impellers themselves and between the impellers and the casing. As the impellers rotate, they push the gas within the cavity of the housing, thereby achieving the purpose of blowing air.

How can we prevent the belt from breaking in an anti-corrosion Roots blower?

During the production process, if the belt is an important component of a Roots blower, improper operation can easily lead to belt breakage. So how can we prevent this phenomenon and the associated risk of belt failure? Today, we’ll analyze ways to prevent belt breakage in Roots blowers from the following aspects:

  1. Before the fan starts running, it needs to be started without any load. After it starts, gradually apply the load and, once it’s running, avoid the V-belt.

  2. The pulleys between the motor and the fan must be parallel—this is a critical alignment. If they’re not parallel, it will affect the operation of the V-belt and make it prone to slipping or falling off. Additionally, the pulley diameters must meet the specified standards, as this directly impacts the service life of the V-belt. After machining, if the diameter is slightly larger, it can further reduce wear and tear on the V-belt.

  2. If the V-belt slips, it may cause the temperature to rise too quickly, leading to premature aging or even breakage of the V-belt’s rubber. Therefore, be sure to check whether the V-belt is slipping during normal use.

  Replacement cycle for Roots blowers:

  1. Roots blowers are generally replaced once a year.

  2. If there are any cracks, please replace the belt promptly—even if it’s less than a year old. Any signs of severe damage or cracks on the belt indicate that it should be replaced immediately.

  3. If the situation deteriorates seriously, please replace the belts promptly. The Roots blower has multiple belts; if one of them breaks, replace it immediately. To ensure the overall tension of the belts, we’d like to remind everyone to replace the old belt along with it.
